Pacquiao annihilates Diaz

Filipino pride Manny Pacquiao (47-3-2, 35 KOs) now holds the label as the first-ever Asian to win 4 world championship titles in 4 weight divisions, after knocking-out David Diaz (34-2-1, 17 KOs) in the 9th round to claim the WBC Lightweight World Title at the Mandalay Bay of Las Vegas.

The Pacman already held the record as the first Asian to win 3 titles in 3 weight divisions (former WBC Flyweight World Champion, former IBF Junior Featherweight World Champion, and current WBC Super Featherweight World champion; his Ring Magazine Featherweight title doesn’t count since it’s not a major title) after defeating Juan Manuel Marquez via a razor-thin split decision victory last March 2008. Moving up in weight and only in his first fight as a lightweight, the Filipino firebrand dominated Diaz using his skills that made him a superstar in boxing: speed and power.

Pacman and the Mexican Trio

Never did an Asian boxer make more waves in international soil specially in America than Manny Pacquiao. Since stepping in the US on June 2001 as a late substitute challenger for then IBF Jr. Bantamweight champ Lehlo Ledwaba, Pacquiao aka then as The Destroyer made an impression of mystery amongst boxing experts all over the world.
